Much More than a Meal

Every meal served creates an opportunity for connection, support, and stability for our guests experiencing homelessness. At the Daystation, a shared meal often becomes the first step toward housing navigation, recovery support, healthcare access, employment assistance, and permanent housing.

The Daystation Kitchen: Much More Than a Meal

The COTS Daystation provides the only free daily noontime meal available in Chittenden County, but lunch is never just lunch at the Daystation. In recent years, the Daystation has experienced a 300% increase in daily utilization, and demand for meals and services continues to grow. Your support helps ensure that guests receive not only nutritious food, but also compassionate connection and access to critical resources.

Every meal served creates an opportunity for connection, support, and stability for our guests experiencing homelessness. At the Daystation, a shared meal often becomes the first step toward housing navigation, recovery support, healthcare access, employment assistance, and permanent housing.

This summer, we need your help. The kitchen at the Daystation will be undergoing significant renovations to better accommodate our volunteers and serve our guests.

COTS is raising $150,000 to renovate the Daystation kitchen and dining room at 95 North Avenue. These improvements will help us safely and efficiently serve more guests while creating a more welcoming space that supports dignity, recovery, and pathways to housing.

Help Us Serve Lunch During Renovations

From August 3 through mid-September, we are working to fill our volunteer lunch calendar during one of the busiest times of the year at the Daystation. As we prepare for upcoming renovations, we are currently asking volunteer groups to either:

  • Provide ready-to-serve meals that do not require heating or preparation in the kitchen
  • Sign up to use our outdoor patio grill to prepare and serve lunch onsite
  • Order take out to be delivered directly to the Daystation

Simple meals are greatly appreciated and can include sandwiches, salads, burgers, hot dogs, wraps, pasta salad, fresh fruit, chips, cookies, and other easy-to-serve items.

Can you or your group, workplace, congregation, family, or friends sign up for a lunch date this summer and support our fundraising campaign?
