Answer the Call; 2023 COTS Phonathon

The COTS Phonathon is our oldest and one of our most important fundraisers. Each year, the week after Thanksgiving, staff and volunteers call past COTS supporters and ask them to consider a gift to COTS again this year. Your volunteer work, donations, and support for the Phonathon are vital to the services COTS provides.

The 2023 Phonathon will take place Monday, November 27 – Thursday, November 30th.

How it Works

Donating to the Phonathon can help maximize your gift to COTS. We have a generous Challenge Grant from New England Federal Credit Union (NEFCU) that will match 100% of new donations to this year’s Phonathon. It will also match gifts of past Phonathon donors who increase their gift from last year. So if you gave $50 last year and give $100 this year, $50 (the increase) will be matched.

You do not have to donate during the week of the Phonathon for the challenge grant to apply. You can donate now and your donation will still be matched if it is a new or increased gift!

We are searching for Volunteers to make phone calls Monday, November 27 – Thursday, November 30th. You can volunteer for one, two, three, or four evenings from 5:30PM – 8PM

Attention past mailroom volunteers, and those who don't want to talk on the phone- Announcing Phonafriend 10 for $10! Can you pledge to Email, text, call, DM, FB message, Tweet, Snap, or walkie talkie 10 friends and ask for a $10 gift of support for COTS? If 100 volunteers receive $10 from 10 friends or family members, we will raise $10,000! This role is great for those who would like to avoid making a phone call. You can do this anytime in the week leading up to Thanksgiving, and until the end of November. Click the volunteer sign-up button below to help us

This year we will be holding a hybrid event again. For those who wish to volunteer in-person, we will pick a day to call from our offices at 95 North Avenue. Volunteers can also call remotely from the comfort of their own home. We encourage volunteers to form their own remote gatherings of callers. There are many options to participate and no matter where you call from, it is sure to be a fun environment!

Do you have a group of friends or colleagues that you want to throw your own Phonathon calling party with? We encourage you to form your own remote gatherings of volunteer callers. If you email RomyT@cotsonline.org to let us know about your Phonathon party, we will make sure you won’t miss out on any of the on-site fun!

With the support of the community and our amazing sponsors, we hope to reach this year’s fundraising goal of $250,000. We are extremely excited to kick off the Phonathan this year, and hope you’ll help us spread the word on social media, Front Porch Forum, and to your friends and family!
