We recently asked our staff to share some of the stories of the people they work with every day — parents, children, and individuals facing the crisis of homelessness in our community.

These stories are the reasons we will walk at at the COTS Walk on May 1st. Please join us: Register today.

For the single mom who called crying … She had good news to share on housing and employment. She said this was the first time in her life that she had cried tears of joy.

… For the families struggling to find apartments … After a long week, many apartments visits, and coordination of multiple resources, late Friday afternoon, we received three messages that three different families all had been approved for housing.IMG_1410

… For the single adult who struggles with anger, disappointment and frustration … When they need patience and understanding, a safe place out of the cold and rain, or a warm cup of coffee or lunch, the Daystation offers refuge and a place to start again or as guest said the Daystation is where COTS peer outreach staffers “fight for them, help them accomplish things, and do anything to help them get it done.”

… For the young parents with a small infant trying to find home and stay strong as a couple … From anxiety and hopelessness, to intervention and support, to overcoming obstacles and positive changes, to moments of empowerment and celebration, this family’s journey ended with a new beginning and a home.
