Join Us for a Comedy Show at ArtsRiot!

comic relief

For the third year, Kathleen Kanz hosts Comic Relief– an awareness/ fundraising event that’s a good time and a great way to give back.

The first Comic Relief was started by Bob Zmuda (Andy Kaufmann’s friend and comedy sidekick) in 1986 as the homeless population in New York City had ballooned due to changes in national and local policies and funding. The event was hosted by comedians Robin Williams, Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg and was televised on HBO. Since then, local Comic Reliefs have popped up nationwide. Now is your chance to join the movement here in Burlington!

When: 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 19th, 2016

Where: ArtsRiot, 400 Pine Street, Burlington, VT

Tickets: $5 w/ Student ID, $10 in advance, $14 at the door. All proceeds benefit COTS.

Comedian Bios
  • Kathleen Kanz has been performing and producing comedy shows in Vermont since 2007. Her style favors compact jokes containing twisted logic. She’s the founder of the Green Mountain Comedy Festival and Comic Relief. She won “Let’s Quip Live!” as part of the 2015 Women In Comedy Festival. She has jokes in two books – “She’s So Funny” & “Squeaky Clean Comedy”.
  • Paul Church is a Burlington comedian, writer, and producer of “The Other Day Podcast”. His life goals include performing at ArtsRiot, raising money for COTS and writing his own bio. In his free time Paul enjoys speaking in the third person. In 2015, Paul was a finalist in VT’s Funniest Comedian Contest, and a winner at “Crowd Control” (a themed stand up competition) and “Shitck or Treat” (performing Bernie Mac’s material for Halloween).
  • Lori Goldman is not a native Vermonter and, yes, she feels bad about it. Her comedy has been featured in the Green Mountain Comedy Festival, Hoboken Comedy Festival, Providence Improv Festival and Chicago Women’s Funny Fest. She was a finalist in VT’s Funniest Comedian Contest 2015. These days, she can be found performing with Vermont Comedy Club’s Main Stage Short Form and Long Form Improv Teams, and as one half of the Burlington comedy duo YONIC TONIC.
  • Tyler Denton moved to Burlington in 2014 to pursue comedy. Since then he’s been a two-time semi-finalist in VT’s Funniest Comedian Contest and was selected for the 2015 Green Mountain Comedy Festival. He produces the weekly comedy open mic at Drink Bar in Burlington. His comedy inspirations include Bill Burr, Chad Daniels, and Louis C.K.
  • Maggie Lenz was a horribly reckless teen. She celebrates surviving it by laughing about it shamelessly. Her comedic inspirations are Tig Notaro, Sarah Silverman, Chelsea Peretti and Anthony Jeselnik. She lives in Montpelier with her dumb cat and smelly old dog. She’s the founder of the Charlie O’s Comedy Cafe open mic happening weekly on Monday nights.
  • Richard Bowen is a man with a bottomless hole in his heart that can only be filled with laughter and peanut butter. He writes and tells jokes each and every day. He’s the host of “Pullin’ Yo’ Chain”, a monthly comedy showcase on the third Tuesday of each month at the Light Club Lamp Shop, and a weekly comedy open mic at Drink Bar every Tuesday at 9pm.
  • Bryanna Doe Imagine waking up as the only black member of your family, in rural Vermont, with a Netflix addiction to Law & Order and the urge to tell jokes. You’ve just spent a day in the life of Bryanna Doe. On February 25th she’ll start hosting shows at La Puerta Negra in Montpelier.
  • Kendall Farrell is a Vermont comedian who performs across Montreal, New England and New York. In 2015, he won the VT’s Funniest Comedian Contest and was featured in the Green Mountain Comedy Festival. He runs a weekly comedy open mic on Mondays at Franny O’s.
