Comic Relief was a comedy benefit that first aired in 1986 on HBO. It was hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams and Billy Crystal, showcased 47 comics and raised $2.5 million to help people who were homeless. Comedian Kathleen Kanz works in affordable housing, admires the work of COTS, and is the founder of the Green Mountain Comedy Festival.

It occurred to her that she could combine those things and create Comic Relief – A Benefit for COTS. COTS provides emergency shelter, services and housing for people who are homeless or marginally housed in Vermont. They believe in in the value and dignity of every human life, that housing is a fundamental human right, and that emergency shelter is not the solution to homelessness.

Silent Online Ticket Auction

In addition to the tickets sold on Flynntix, five pairs of front row seats will be auctioned off through an online silent auction. Bids for a pair of tickets and contact information should be emailed to vermontcomedy@gmail.com.

Bids may be submitted until midnight on Halloween, Oct. 31, 2013. The five highest bidders will be notified by email on Friday, Nov. 1. COTS will need to receive payment for the tickets in order for the seats to be reserved. Winners of tickets will have the seats of their choice reserved for them.
